Phoebe Shi is a 14-year-old currently attending Rachel Carson Middle School. She plays both viola and piano. She was selected for Junior District Honors Orchestra for both seventh and eighth grade and has been taking private lessons for viola for around two years. She also participates in the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra’s junior division orchestras.

Phoebe has also been playing piano for ten years and has taken lessons for nine. She has received consistent superior ratings at VBODA’s Spring and Fall Festival for nine years in piano, and two years in viola. Even though she is classically trained, she has also enjoyed playing jazz piano as a part of RCMS’s jazz band!

Along with her primary instruments, Phoebe also loves learning traditional Chinese instruments and guitar. Outside of music, she loves art, crochet, and working with kids!
